TLDR: Connect to the internet, connect to Ag VPN, then copy and paste the printer path into File Explorer and use “boilerad“boilerad\username” username” to log in. _____________________________________________________________ Here are the steps for adding an AgIT printer on a personal Windows computer: A) Download and Install Cisco AnyConnect if you haven't already - Log in to your computer and verify that you are connected to the internet (
NOTE: skip to step 7 Section C if you are on PAL3.0 wireless network) - Open your web browser and go to “webvpn.purdue.edu” (
NOTE: If you already have AnyConnect VPN installed, run the program and skip to step 5) Section B - Follow the steps to download and install Cisco AnyConnect VPN
NOTE: If the automatic installer fails, just click the link to download the Cisco AnyConnect installer and run it manually. Either way, admin access will be required for the installation. - Follow the prompts to install Cisco AnyConnect. After it has finished
B) Connect to the Ag-General VPN - Open Cisco AnyConnect, run the application from the Start Menu (it should be listed on the recent programs, programs list, or type it in the Windows search bar)
- Copy and paste the following address (case-sensitive) into the blank box, then click “Connect”: https://webvpn.purdue.edu/Ag-General
- Type your Purdue username and BoilerKey passphrase (PINPIN#,push or PIN#,CODE).
NOTE: Personal machines may (or may not) require “boilerad\username”.After it finishes loading, you should be “boilerad\username” instead.
C) Connect to the Ag-General VPN - Now that you're connected to the AgIT network via the Ag-General VPN.
- Navigate to any window in file explorer (such as the local documents or downloads folder), then type (or copy/paste) the following in the address bar:
OR for - For Multifunction printers (MFP) use:
NOTE: This will NOT work in a web browser window, only MUST be a file explorer window. 3. When it asks for your username, use the following with boilerad\username & your standard career account password (not BoilerKey passphrase): boilerad\username 4. Now you can should see a list of printers. Look for the one you want (names are based on building and room number), then double-click the icon. It should connect to the printer and install the driver, after which you will see a white window that is the print queue. (Once it appears, you can close out of that print queue window) 5. You will also should now be able to print to this printer by selecting it in the print settings window when trying to print. NOTE: If you had a program already open before starting this process, you will need to close the program and reopen it to get the new printer to appear as an option. 6. This printer will remain as an option in your printers, however, any time you want to print to it you will need to be connected to the network, ether by VPN ( or via PAL3.0 ) every time you need to print. Let me know if you are able to get it working!
