If you are working in windows, check out How do I connect to my career account home directory from a Windows PC?

If you are working in macOS, please see How do I connect to my career account home directory in macOS?

NOTE:  If you are off campus, you will need to connect to the Purdue VPN, before connecting to your home directory. Please refer to How do I connect to Purdue VPN for chromebooks?

NOTE:  BoilerKey is required when authenticating to Purdue's VPN services.

NOTE: Additional instructions for mapping network shared drives to Chromebooks can be found here

How do I connect to my career account home directory from a Chromebook?
  1. Open the "Files" app on your Chromebook
  2. With Files open, click on the 3-dot menu on the top-right corner to open the Files app settings menu
  3. Then down to “Add new service” and click “SMB file share”

  4. An "Add File Share" Dialog box will open
  5. In the "File share URL" field, enter the smb drive path for your Purdue Home Drive,
    smb://nas01.itap.purdue.edu/puhome
  6. In the "Display Name" field, this will be how your home directory displays on your machine. Name it something recognizable like "Purdue Home Directory"
  7. Input your credentials for the "Username" & "Password" fields
    1. For the username, you will need to precede your Purdue username with "boilerad\" (Ex. boilerad\yourusername)
    2. For the password, use your Career Account password (not your Boilerkey passphrase)
  8. Check the checkbox at the bottom to "Remember sign-in info"
  9. Click the "Add" button to add your Purdue Home Directory as a file share

  10. Your Purdue Home Directory will now be available to your on your Chromebook. You can access it from the left pane just like other folders and drives.
NOTE: You MUST be on the Purdue VPN in order to access this drive. You may have to re-add this drive each time you connect.

Internal Tech Notes (for CSC use only)

SMB file share button should be available to all Chromebook users by default. Some Chromebook users may have access to Network File Share for Chrome OS, which is found in the same location as SMB file share. If user has access to that option, user can use that instead of SMB file share if they want and connect to the following paths:

\\myhome.itap.purdue.edu\myhome\username

\\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\puhome
