Account Overview

NOTE: I've tried to consolidate as much of the Student Org Account info in KB 1242062

NOTE: This cannot be done with account setup reset. Without a PUID or DoB, you can't use AccountSetup on these accounts. Reps will need to contact a Spec if a password change/reset is needed.

Career Accounts for Student Organization are about 90% identical to regular user Career Accounts. Being a type of 'non-person' account they're very similar to Guest Accounts (without the built in expiration date). 

Try not to get overwhelmed and thinking they're something totally different, same processes, just a little different.

They have, or can have:

  • ITaP Labs computer access
  • Print quotas
  • aliases
  • full names
  • career account password
  • email mailboxes
  • personal webspaces
  • multiple users

They can NOT have:

  • A date of birth
  • A PUID
  • A Boilerkey (use CAPW for CAS instead)

Authorized users

  • For any 'normal' user Career Account, the ONLY person we're allowed to work with on the account is the user themselves. If we find that someone else has access, we're required to scramble the account. The only exceptions to this require a 'Power of Attorney' document to be on file, or exceptions processed through the Service Desk Manager.
  • For student org accounts, being a 'non-person' account, there's no actual 'person' to whom the account belongs. Instead, each account will have two 'authorized users' for the account.

Identity Verification

NOTE: The user calling in REALLY should know the alias for the account, plug the name they give you into the public directory. If you can't find it, SAO should be able to provide it to them.


Account Changes

For account changes to a student's student profile, you would send them to the Registrar.

For account changes to a staff/faculty employee profile,
