Use this documentation if you are contacted by a user needing to reset the password for a student organization,
NOTE: There is also KB #187262, but since this all occurs within the user's account, and I do not have visibility into that system, I've never been able to reliably test it
NOTE: This is the same password used to access the student Org's O365 account and email, starting Spring 2022, this will also require MFA to access.
- First, look up the organization by username/alias in Catbert using the organization's username/alias
- If they do not have the username for the account
- Have them try to search the name of the org on purdue.edu/directory
- Otherwise, they'll need to contact SAO for that information.
- On the student org's Catbert entry, you can view the organization's username/alias/login, the full name for the org, as well as the Advisor and President of Record for the Student Organization.
NOTE: ITaP can only work with the President/Advisor of Record for the student org. If the contact in this case is NOT the President/Advisor of Record for the student org, they will need to be directed to the President/Advisor of the student org for assistance.
- Once you've confirmed that your user is one of the names listed as either President or Advisor of Record for the Student Org
NOTE: If the information for the President/Advisor is incorrect, the user will need to contact SAO to get this information updated (SAO sao@purdue.edu 765-494-1231).
- Do a standard ID check to confirm their identity.
- Set a temporary password for the account
NOTE: This cannot be done with account setup reset. Without a PUID or DoB, you can't use AccountSetup on these accounts. Reps will need to contact a Spec if a password change/reset is needed.
- Direct the user to open a browser tab and navigate to purdue.edu/apps/account to access the account settings for the Org
NOTE: They may want to use an Incognito tab instead so it doesn't interfere with their own logins
- Have them log in with the provided credentials
- Use the "Change Password" tool under "Your Account Tools" to set a new password, normal password requirements apply.
- Before ending the call, make sure that the user is aware that they are able to share the password with other members of the Org, but ITaP will only work with the President/Advisor of Record for the student org.
- MFA will also need to be configured to access this Org's O365 account or Mailbox
NOTE: There will likely be a brief delay before the new password syncs to O365, so you may need to pause for a minute or two.
- When resolving your ticket, I'd advise cc'ing the other President/Advisor for the org so that they know the password has changed, and that they know to contact the other person if they need it.
