Technology Overview - Remove if multiple tools use the same technology/processThe Nordson ASYMTEK Quantum® Q-6800 Series is an automated fluid dispensing system offering high quality, speed, and flexibility for batch dispensing applications. Users program machine vision to recognize registration marks and then dispense features with precise location down to 0.001 inch resolution. Two applicators are available: NexJet® 8 Jetting System and Heli-Flow® Pump auger system. The jetting system dispenses material in droplet form by forcing material incrementally through an orifice, while the auger system dispenses material via continuous flow through a needle. Simultaneous x-y motion of the dispensing head while material is jetting or flowing results in deposition of dots, lines, spirals, or area fills of various shapes. Mass flow rate calibration is available to control deposition mass per unit drop or mass per unit length as opposed to controlling drop frequency and x-y speed.

Substrate
Substrate is currently set-up for 6" width, and dispensing can occur over an area of about 6" x 11". Larger and smaller widths can likely be accommodated, but there may be some limits due to the support hardware structure currently in place. For smaller substrates, one possible solution is to mount the substrate on a 6" wide plate; please check with staff if you'd like try this.
Viscosity of inks
A large ink viscosity range is possible. Inks ranging from 100 to 10,000 cP have been tried successfully. Other ink viscosities are also possible, but the hardware used and process settings may need to be tuned to avoid dripping (low viscosities) and allow flow (high viscosities).
