IOC staff are considered Essential Personnel
Copies form the email sent out from CSSAC Campus Connection:
Here in Indiana, we all know (and understand) the saying, “if you don’t like the weather, just stick around,
it will change”…
This may be especially true for the upcoming winter.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac the 2019 - 2020 winter will be remembered for strong storms
bringing a steady “roofbeat” of heavy rain and sleet, not to mention piles of snow.
Being prepared is key to “surviving” an Indiana winter and Purdue University has specific policies in place
to deal with severe winter weather, including wind chill, snow or ice emergencies.
Many of us are considered “Essential” Personnel, who are required to report to campus in order to provide
the minimum level of service for our students (e.g. emergency services, utilities, snow removal and the
provision of food and housing for our student population).
This message is to remind everyone that during these types of emergencies, Essential Personnel may be
required to stay on campus in advance of, or for all or part of the duration of a winter weather emergency,
as directed by their supervisor, to ensure the continuing operation of the University.
That being said, emergency housing and meals will be provided at the University’s expense to Essential
Personnel as needed. Amenities will include a vacant room in one of the residence halls, sheets, pillow,
wash cloth, pillow case, towel and a blanket. Staff will also be eligible for 2 meals per night staying over.
Meals include dinner on the night of the stay and breakfast the following morning. Please check with your
supervisor for more details about your specific area.
CSC will no longer be responsible for ITaP Tech Support in WALC . ITaP Labs will cover for the WALC Help Desk starting 11/13 Wed morning at 9:00AM.
There will be 3 Tech Support locations advertised for walk-up customers. CSC reps will be responsible for coverage in HSSE, ITaP Labs will be responsible for coverage in HICKS and WALC. Labs will not have phones or be receiving phone calls for tech support. The students that used to cover WALC will now be reporting to STEW Call Center instead.
"ITaP Labs will be staffing their locations to align with our current hours of operation. BoilerKey tokens will only be assigned by our team covering the HSSE Help Desk." - Ann Sheetz
