IOC: Common Operating Environment

It's essential that we always have our data center and service monitoring tools running in the IOC. We cannot miss an alert because the monitoring tool was not available or set up correctly. To ensure this does not happen, a Common Operating Environment (COE) has been established for the IOC. This includes a standard configuration of the wall displays in the IOC, and the displays in the console that are used for monitoring. This COE has been reviewed and approved by the supervisors, and should always be used in the IOC.

Top Left: Grafana Dashboard

Bottom Left: Metasys to left corner, StruxureWare bottom left corner, and Xymon on the right. Audio should be turned on for this monitor. Volume can be turned down if the sound is bothering people in the room as long as we are still paying attention for new alarms. We can also send an email to DCM to ask that devices be muted if they are going off repeatedly, especially if the alarms are ignored or not otherwise reported (like blue motion detection alarms in StruxureWare).

Top Right Screen: Siemens (While top right in these pictures, this is also a middle screen in terms of physical configuration and keyboard usage.)

All other screens are for NOC/Networking.

These screens may occasionally blink black or run very slowly. This may be a sign that the respective machine needs to be updated (via Windows Update) and/or restarted. Before restarting, you should confirm you have the respective apps open on your current computer. If the middle monitors become unresponsive, you may need to hold down the tower's power button to reboot. Otherwise, these should be updated about once a month, usually by third shift during slow periods.
