Subject: Heads Up Regarding New Experiences for Students this Fall

The number of things that will be different for students this fall is a bit overwhelming, but I wanted to pass along a heads up to your group for some changes that my team is supporting that could result in calls to the help desk.

In order to support social distancing protocols, many faculty will be adopting what is referred to as a Hybrid-Flexible delivery model.  In this model, they are utilizing a rotating attendance plan for their students.  Some students will attend some meetings while others participate via on-line experience.  To support this, my team is building a new application currently called the Course Section Attendance Plan System.  This is a tool that faculty will use to create attendance plans for their courses.  This tool is targeted for 8/17 release.

Any tickets that come to the help desk on this system that cannot be resolved at tier 1 should be routed to the ITAP_EMS_MYPURDUE_PORTAL team.

A related project is underway that requires all residential learners on the West Lafayette campus to complete Student Health Training.  This training course is in Brightspace and is already up and running for Summer students.  To encourage completing the course, behavior in myPurdue will change.  Starting August 10, any student who is a residential learner who has not completed the Student Health Training will receive limited content in myPurdue informing them of the need to complete this training and directing them to Brightspace where they can take the training course.   Their access to myPurdue will be restored ~ 1 hour after completing the Brightspace Training course.  If students contact the help desk to complain about myPurdue Access being blocked, please inquire as to how long it has been since they completed the training course, and if it has been less than an hour, remind them to give it  a few more minutes.  If they assert it has already been an hour, then send the ticket to the ITAP_EMS_MYPURDUE_PORTAL team.

If students have questions about the Brightspace course, that should be directed to TLT_SUPPORT_SPECIALISTS.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks.

Best regards,

Joe
